Data Retention & Deletion Policy
Exact retention schedules, backup purging, and automated deletion cascades.
This document transparently reflects the technical and privacy architecture of BipolarSocial. Statutory operator entities will be finalized prior to public launch.
1. Data Retention Schedule
Personal data is held strictly for the minimum period necessary for the designated purpose:
- Active Profile: Maintained until user requests deletion or 24 months of total inactivity.
- Posts & Comments: Retained until author deletes them or account deletion cascades.
- Direct Messages: Stored until conversation participants delete accounts.
- Email Verification Tokens: Automatically purged after 24 hours.
- Password Reset Tokens: Expire automatically after 60 minutes.
- Server Runtime & Access Logs: Rotated and purged every 14 to 30 days.
2. Irreversible Deletion Cascade
Invoking "Delete Account" in profile settings permanently removes profile records, contributions, likes, and messages in a single atomic database cascade.
